Oops!

There's me saying I'll update this regularly.  Right, at the moment I'm in Wolverton.  Heading towards Tring is the plan at the moment and see what happens after that . There's a definife chill in the air now it's late November and quite often I'm the only boat moving.  Plenty of smoking chimneys though ......

Domestic Day

  • Today has been a day of cleaning, tidying and wood chopping.  My indoor wood supply, drying by the fire was severely depleted so I raided the top box and had an enjoyable time with axe and hatchet!  Much more fun than the cleaning.  : ]

Shiny!

Well, the bottom half of the boat is now nice and shiny.
Gunwales definitely need a coat or two of paint now. But not just yet.
Today, I'm heading to Weedon, lots of domestic stuff to be done. The usual cleaning
and tidying,  wood chopping. Oh what fun and excitement!

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.

Yesterday, the boat went in for blacking at Weltonfield Narrowboats near Daventry. I am at present in Lincoln, staying with my girlfriend until the boat is finished.

First Post Of The New Blog

Welcome to the new and hopefully last blog I'll have to start.
Some of you may know me as Bert the Gnome. I've had a couple of previous blogs vanish on me.

The story so far is that how May 2013 the house sold and I bought a sixty foot narrowboat.
Since moving on board, it has been a very steep learning curve. As I've been getting used to life aboard, I've travelled a fair bit. Brum, Warwick, Foxton and down the G.U. and back aefew times. The boat goes in for blacking this coming Friday so I'm heading to Welton Hythe in plenty of time.

Mishaps along the way have included cooking my inverter and flooding the bedroom!
Such is life.

More to follow soon. Updates should be regular as I got me a snazzy new phone today, so now I've got no excuse.

Until the next time ........
